Seminar in Kingston on Business Opportunities With India

        High Commission of India, Ottawa in association with Kingston Economic Development Board, Kingston Immigration Partnership (KIP), organized a Seminar on Business Opportunities with India, at the Ttt Centre, Malting Tower, Kingston, Ontario on Friday, 20th January 2017. The seminar was addressed by Ms. Sophie Kiwala, Member of Provisional Parliament of Ontario who briefed the participants on the business environment in Ontario and its relationship with India. She said, both Ontario and India can build synergies for cooperation on clean technology, sustainable infrastructure, start-ups and small and medium scale industries. She informed that trade between India and Ontario was increasing especially in agriculture. Mr. Jim Neil, Councilor spoke as a representative of the Mayor of Kingston and talking about the business opportunities that Kingston offers.

        Acting High Commissioner Arun Kumar Sahu was the keynote  speaker at the function, and spoke about the opportunities India offers for investment in various sectors, including  agro-business in the context of Kingston. He drew attention to the young population of India, highlighted PM’s flagship initiatives; Make in India, Smart Cities and start-ups. He explained the Indian business environment and the ease of doing business with India and invited investors to invest in India. Ms. Judith Pineault, Board Chairperson, Kingston Economic Development in her brief closing remarks thanked the High Commission of India, Ottawa for organizing the event in Kingston and assured all cooperation. The event was followed by a Q & A session.

          After the event, Acting High Commissioner called on the Mayor of Kingston Mr. Bryon Peterson at the City Hall, Kingston, and briefed him about India and the new initiative taken by the Government of India to make India a global manufacturing hub, and an attractive investment destination. Mayor Patterson welcomed Acting High Commissioner and thanked him for organizing the business event in Kingston and assured his support for such events. Over seventy people comprising entrepreneurs, senior officials of Kingston Economic Board, Indo-Canadian businessmen attended the event.
