Birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar

 To commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, High Commission of India, in collaboration with Canada-India Centre, Carleton University, organised a talk followed by a discussion on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s role in framing the Indian constitution. Professor Sukhdeo Thorat, former Chair, UGC, was the keynote speaker. In his speech, he highlighted Dr. Ambedkar’s contribution to India’s constitution to protect social equality in India, with special reference to constitutional provisions for protecting the rights and freedom of the weaker sections. Deputy High Commissioner of India Shri Arun Sahu made the opening remarks. He touched upon the strength of Indian diversity and Dr Ambedkar’s contribution in providing a solid constitutional structure to meet any challenge.
