The India Canada Association of Ottawa and several other Indian Community organisations came together to host a welcome Reception for the newly arrived High Commissioner of India, Mr. Vikas Swarup and his wife, Mrs. Aparna Swarup at Ishina Restaurant on April 27, 2017.

 At this very well attended event, which saw participation by M.P. Chandra Arya and his wife and several prominent Indo Canadians from all walks of life, High Commissioner Swarup applauded the efforts of the Indo Canadian community in keeping alive the culture, traditions and values of India even as they continue to contribute to the progress and prosperity of their adopted homeland Canada. He emphasized the tremendous potential for partnership between the two countries in all the fields, and specifically in trade and commerce. He sought the assistance of the community in further cementing the close bonds of friendship between India and Canada and assured that the High Commission will be there to meet all genuine needs of the community and all officials in both the High Commission as well as the Consulate in Toronto and Vancouver will continue to perform their duties efficiently.

 A number of cultural items were also performed on the occasion including classical and Bollywood dance and songs. The President of the ICA felicitated High Commissioner Swarup with a memento.
