High Commissioner was invited to speak at a business conference, as part of Renowned Speaker Series organised by West Island of Montreal Chamber of Commerce (WIMCC) in partnership with Quebec India Business Council (QIBC) on 21st March, 2018 at the Marriot Hotel, Montreal. WIMCC represents 850 businesses in the region and QIBC, representing over 500 businesses, is dedicated to promoting the business interests of its members as well as to facilitate trade and industry between the Quebec and India. About 100 potential investors from Canada, in particular from the Montreal region, participated in this event.

Mr. Joseph Huza, President & Executive Director of WIMCC opened the event and thereafter Ms. Mercedes Beaulieu, Director, QIBC introduced the High Commissioner and invited him to address the audience. In his talk, the High Commissioner informed the audience about the changes that are taking place in the Indian economy and how it is poised to scale newer heights on account of knowledge, ingenuity and perseverence of its people as well as the demographic advantage available to the country. He remarked that being the two largest democracies in the world, Canada and India were natural partners. He introduced the audience to the key drivers of India’s growth – Knowlege, Enterperise and Youth (KEY). The High Commissioner then informed the audience about achievements of various initiatives of the Government of India including the JAM trinity and the new GST system. He informed about the multitude of opportunities across various sectors available to Canadian companies to do business in India and invited them to take full advantage of these as 2018 was the right time to invest in India in order not to miss the India of 2030. The talk was followed by a Q & A session and interaction with the media.
