Using technology to better serve the community

High Commission announces the launch of Suvidha Portal

for addressing consular queries and grievances

For the benefit of users, the High Commission of India is pleased to launch ‘Suvidha’, a web portal designed for addressing queries, fixing appointments for consular services provided directly by the High Commission and for submitting grievances. Announcing the launch of the portal at an event organized by the High Commission on March 17, 2022, to mark 75 years of India’s independence and celebrate the success of the Indian heritage community in Canada, India’s High Commissioner to Canada, Ajay Bisaria, said that the High Commission had taken lessons from the experience of handling consular issues during the COVID-19 pandemic and was using technology to better serve the community.  The High Commissioner added that the Suvidha portal offers a quick and convenient way of communicating with the High Commission in a transparent manner.

  1. The Suvidha portal eliminates the need for approaching the Mission through emails or telephone. Submission of requests on the portal generates a query token which can be quoted in all subsequent communications regarding that particular matter.  The system allows for quicker resolution of the queries using sophisticated algorithms and monitoring tools.
  1. The Suvidha portal will also provide a user-friendly interface for seeking appointments for consular services that are provided directly by the Mission as the applicants can themselves select the desired slot as per daily availability, which will be shown live on the portal. With a single click, appointments can be booked and users will receive automated confirmations.
  1. The Suvidha portal is available only for the people in Canada within the consular jurisdiction of the High Commission. The consular jurisdiction of the High Commission extends to National Capital region of Ottawa-Hull, Kingston, Cornwall, Hawkesbury, Arnprior, Renfrew, Perth-Prescott, Brockville, Carleton Place, Smith Falls, Morrisburg (all in Ontario) and Montreal (in Quebec).
  1. For general information on consular services and those services which are outsourced to BLS, including visa, Passports, OCI and PCC, the applicants are required to continue approach the BLS center nearest them for availing such services and information related to the services. The Suvidha portal can be accessed at the following link: https://suvidha.hciottawa.gov.in/user/  or  by visiting the website of the High Commission of India: https://www.hciottawa.gov.in .
