PRESS RELEASE

Further easing of provisions related to
Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Cards

In its ongoing efforts to simplify the process of re-issue of OCI Cards for the benefit of overseas Indian community, the Government of India has further eased the procedure relating to re-issue of OCI Cards.

2. The online OCI webportal has been modified [under the section “OCI Miscellaneous Services”] to facilitate OCI cardholders to update details of their new Passport (each time a new passport is issued up to an OCI card holder attained 20 years of age and once after completing 50 years of age) and reissue of OCI card once a new passport is issued after completing 20 years of age. Detailed instructions and requirements for filling the online application may be accessed at “https://ociservices.gov.in/welcome”.

3. Further, to add to the convenience of the OCI cardholders who are required to obtain special permission from relevant authorities to undertake certain activities in India (as per Gazette notification dated 04th March 2021 on rights and privileges), a separate web-portal with the head, “Apply for Special Permission (only for OCI cardholders)” under webportal “https://ociservices.gov.in/welcome” has also been created. This link has detailed instructions as well as the list of documents required to be submitted.
