Further easing of provisions related to
Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Cards

In its ongoing efforts to simplify the process of re-issue of OCI Cards for the benefit of overseas Indian community, the Government of India has further eased the procedure relating to re-issue of OCI Cards.

2. The online OCI webportal has been modified [under the section “OCI Miscellaneous Services”] to facilitate OCI cardholders to update details of their new Passport (each time a new passport is issued up to an OCI card holder attained 20 years of age and once after completing 50 years of age) and reissue of OCI card once a new passport is issued after completing 20 years of age. Detailed instructions and requirements for filling the online application may be accessed at “https://ociservices.gov.in/welcome”.

3. Further, to add to the convenience of the OCI cardholders who are required to obtain special permission from relevant authorities to undertake certain activities in India (as per Gazette notification dated 04^th March 2021 on rights and privileges), a separate web-portal with the head, “Apply for Special Permission (only for OCI cardholders)” under webportal “https://ociservices.gov.in/welcome” has also been created. This link has detailed instructions as well as the list of documents required to be submitted.
