Visit of Chief Minister of Haryana to Canada

1.  Chief Minister of the State of Haryana, Hon’ble Manohar Lal Khattar, led an impressive business delegation to Canada covering Vancouver and Toronto. The delegation included Minister of Industries, Hon’ble Captain Abhimanyu Sindhu, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal, Senior Officials and a Business delegation led byChairman of Hi-Tech Group of Companies Mr. Deep Kapuria. High Commissioner Vishnu Prakash joined the delegation in Toronto.

2.  The purpose of the visit was to deepen economic and business engagement between Haryana and Canada, as well as, explore the possibilities of tie-ups in Innovation and Human Resource Development especially in vocational training. The objectives of the visit were more than achieved.

3.  The delegation arrived in Vancouver on 21stAugust and had productive roundtable interactions with Canada India Business Council (CIBC), Indo-Canadian Socio Economic Association (IC-SEA) & OFBJP-BC. A site visit to Monark Group’s organic farm and a number of business interactions also took place.

4.  The delegation arrived in Toronto on 23rdAugust and heldinteractions with Indo-Canadian Chambers of Commerce (ICCC), CIBC, Canada India Foundation and Indian community associations. They visited DMZ, Ryerson University (RU), which has emergedamong the top 5 business incubators in the world. RU has also set up a similar facility in Mumbai along with Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

5.  On 25ththe Chief Minister (CM) had a meeting with the Premier Kathleen Wynne of Ontario. During wide ranging discussions, CM invited Premier Wynne to visit Haryana in February 2016, when she proposes to lead a business mission to India. They identified a number of areas of possible collaboration including town planning and smart cities, waste and water treatment, education, energy including renewable as well as IT and innovation, in which both sides have considerable strengths.
